A picture of the Hartford sign, which was gifted to the Village by Tom Birtwisle in 1971. The sign is painted in black and silver and features an image of a hart, or stag, crossing a river. The sign is edged with oak leaves and acorns.

Preparing for spring

We were out during the first week of December, planting up the verges adjacent to the car park entrance, opposite the shops on Chester Road. November walk

Budworth Mere, viewed from Marbury Country Park. The weather was very kind to the eight people who joined our November walk. We started at the Salt Barge pub and walked along the canal to Marbury Country Park. The high spot was at the hide overlooking Budworth Mere, where there was plenty of bird activity. A chap there wielding a Canon camera with a huge lens was happy to show us some stunning photographs on his camera's memory card. He has been visiting Marbury for 10 years

Kedleston Hall Coach Trip

On October 2nd, between the rain and winds, Hartford Civic Society were fortunate to pick a fine day for their latest trip attended by 34 people. This was to Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire, described as an extravagant temple of arts and arguably one of Robert Adams' finest projects. The fine weather enabled everyone to eat outside and enjoy views of the extensive grounds. Our next trip will be in Spring 2026. Kedleston Hall, Derbyshire
